Dr. Robert Kronstrand has recently published a paper on the analysis of ethyl glucuronide (EtG) in hair. This study was performed on UCT's Clean Screen EtG SPE column. The project involved following a group of participants for a period of 3 months, analyzing hair samples for ETG. UCT proudly awarded Robert the Excellence in SPE award last October at the annual SOFT meeting for his work in this area. This paper can be found in full format in Forensic Science International.
Robert's study demonstrates the strength and efficiency of the EtG column, and UCT's premier quality SPE materials which include Clean Screen range of columns (CSDAU and CSTHC), as well as derivatizing agents and gc liners for analysts using GC-MS, and HPLC columns for analysts employing LC-MSMS in forensic analysis

UCT crowns 2 more at SOFT
Over the years, Michael Telepchak, president and CEO of UCT, has honored forensic toxicologists at the Annual Meeting of Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT) with the prestigious Excellence in SPE Award. This presentation occurs at the famous Elmer Gordon Forum, hosted by H. Chip Walls and Bob Zettl. At this year's meeting, two awards were presented. One was given to Dr. Robert Kronstrand (Associate Professor in Forensic Toxicology, National Board of Forensic Medicine) from Linkoping, Sweden for his outstanding work on the determination of ethylglucuronide in hair using UCT's ETG SPE column. The second award was presented to a new SOFT member, Ms. Kelly Burns from Onondaga County Center for Forensic Sciences for her development work on a procedure for the analysis of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and metabolites in whole blood using SPE.

Lifetime Achievment Award to Prof. John S. Oliver (University of Glasgow)
John S. Oliver, the former Emeritus Professor of Forensic Medicine at University of Glasgow, Scotland was presented with a lifetime achievement award from UCT. This prestigious award for excellence in SPE is presented annually by Mike Telepchak (President and CEO UCT) to scientists who in the previous year have advanced the science of SPE.
This year the award was presented at the UKFnet meeting in Glasgow, rather than the annual SOFT meeting, to honor the work of Professor Oliver and his former facility who have done much for the advancement of SPE over many years. UCT is always proud to recognize the hard work of forward thinking forensic scientists over the five continents and feel honored to present the award to Professor Oliver.
