(ACN) Acetonitrile-free analysis
We've been getting alot of inquires about alternatives to ACN with the current shortage.
On the whole, the majority of UCT methods (Opiates, Amphetamine type drugs, Cocaine related compounds, Weak acid/neutrals and Prescription drugs) do not require the employment of acetonitrile for producing high quality results in terms of chromatographic cleanness, high recoveries, and reproducibility. In those selected methods that include acetonitrile, (THC/ Carboxy THC in whole blood and urine), alternative organic solvents may be employed to precipitate the sample, as with the wash step. Elution is performed with Hexane/Ethyl Acetate solvent mixtures. Analysis such as benzodiazepines can de directly converted to a CSBNZ procedure which offers a lower acetonitrile wash step whilst providing the analytical facility with an ability to extract and analyze compounds such as 7-aminoclonazepam.
